Programs and Events Coordinator NRAEF

As the philanthropic foundation of the National Restaurant Association, the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF) is dedicated to enhancing the industry’s training and education, career development and community engagement efforts. The NRAEF and its programs work to Attract, Empower and Advance today’s and tomorrow’s restaurant and foodservice workforce. 
NRAEF programs include: 
ProStart® – a high-school career and technical education program
Opportunity Youth – Restaurant Ready – partnering with community based organizations to provide “opportunity youth” with skills training and job opportunities
Scholarships – financial assistance for students pursuing restaurant, foodservice and hospitality degrees
Hospitality Sector Registered Apprenticeship project – a partnership with the American Hotel & Lodging Association providing a hospitality apprenticeship program for the industry
Military – helping servicemen and women transition their skills to restaurant and foodservice careers
Summary of Position:
The NRAEF is looking for a Programs and Events Coordinator to assist with event planning/execution, and program implementation/management.   The coordinator will support team members in event planning, collateral development, program/event communications, marketing, data entry, research, registration, and other tasks as assigned.
Principle Duties:
Works as part of NRAEF programs and events team to accomplish Association goals.
Assists Event Manager and Event Director to accomplish departmental goals.
Supports all internal team members and departments following the Associations mission and values while promoting Association culture.
Works with events team on all aspects of event execution to include but not limited to researching vendors, researching additional activities in event cities, registration, data collection and data management, writing and editing copy, 
Assists in the development of registration sites and executes registration for multiple events, creating weekly reports and tracking historical registration data.
Coordinates logistics  and data collection for printed and online materials for events such as gathering bios, photos, and presentation materials from speakers/award winners as needed
Assists with event and program budget management (i.e. tracking invoices to budget).
Works with the development department to assist with event sponsorship deliverables.
Assists on-site at all events with event execution 
Interfaces with vendors, guests and staff to execute event and program deliverables.
Confidence speaking in meetings and on the phone; comfortable making cold-calls as needed (research calls, not sales calls). 
Confidence liaising with high level guests, members of the military, high-school students, various vendors, sponsors at all levels
Assists with conducting planning meetings with many attendees and multiple objectives
Attends planning meetings and special events on various dates and in various locations across the country.
Organizes and maintains all past event material and files.
Assists in development and management of drafting event promotional materials, including: invitations, house ads, email blasts, signage and other promotions as determined by each event
Assists Event Manager with developing creative approaches to events to ensure they are a "must attend" by the industry.
Tracks effectiveness of marketing plans and tactics. 
Assists communications department as needed
Assists with maintenance of events/programs web site copy 
Assists in drafting scripts and PowerPoint slides for all events.
Assists in developing event survey process.
Assists with program implementation and management.

Ability to give clear, concise direction and feedback to various audiences.
Coordinates proper distribution of materials among team members.
Ability to travel for extended stays several times throughout the year to support all events. 
Secondary Duties:
Works on special projects and other duties as required helping to promote department’s success.
Administrative tasks and projects as assigned.
Essential Training/Certifications: 
4 year Bachelor’s degree completed or in progress preferred.
Previous successful experience planning and producing events, parties, weddings, conferences and/or meetings, and experience implementing and managing programming elements.
Experience with Adobe Illustrator or similar design software preferred, but not required.
Essential Skills/Knowledge: 
Strong writing, reading and math skills.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
Computer literate (Excellent knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint).
Ability to maintain confidentiality of work records.
