Our awards and recognition programs help raise awareness for the positive impact restaurants have in their communities and the role the industry plays in improving the quality of life for all we serve.
In 2007, the National Restaurant Association and PespiCo Foodservice created the Faces of Diversity Awards to honor individuals in the restaurant industry who have realized the American Dream through hard work, determination and enterprise. Each year, three national winners are selected to receive this prestigious award. Winners are flown to Washington, D.C. where they are honored at a gala award celebration. A $2,500 scholarship is also made to an aspiring student of the foodservice and hospitality industry in the name of each winner.

Restaurant Neighbor Awards
In 1997, the National Restaurant Association together with the award’s founding partner, American Express, created the Restaurant Neighbor Awards to help honor restaurants in the field of outstanding community service and involvement. Ninety percent of restaurants are actively involved in community activities and this award highlights the positive contributions restaurants make in their local neighborhoods each and every day. Each year, four national winners receive $5,000 each to continue their charitable works.

Children's nutrition is a top trend on restaurant menus. To shine the spotlight on the industry's commitment to providing healthful menu options for children and to inspire others to adopt similar practices, the National Restaurant Association and McCormick For Chefs created the Kids Recipe Challenge. The Kids Recipe Challenge is a fun and creative way to showcase healthy menu options available when dining out. Participating restaurants and foodservice providers can submit their creative culinary creations from their kids menu for consideration for this exciting, new award. Winners will receive a $1,500 cash prize and an all-expenses-paid trip to Chicago, IL, where they will be honored at a high-profile awards ceremony during the 2013 National Restaurant Association Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show (NRA Show).

A team of independent, successful operators from across the industry evaluates innovations from restaurant and foodservice companies, both commercial and non-commercial. The Operator Innovations Awards are presented in each of five categories: Food Safety, Health & Nutrition, Menu Development, Sustainability and Technology. Winners in each category will be announced, and one of the category winners will also be named Innovator of the Year, during the marquee event “Destination: Celebration” at the National Restaurant Association Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show.
