3 tips to handle end-of-summer days

Looking for ways to attract new guests while regulars are on vacation? Follow this crash course on leveraging  the hottest days of summer from Fishbowl’s Dane Rude:

1. Host a yappy hour. Does your restaurant have a terrace or patio? If so, attract dog lovers by providing free water and dog treats. Make it a family affair; offer discounts on children’s entrees for kids who bring a stuffed animal. 

2. Celebrate wacky food “holidays.”  Consider special dessert promotions for National Cherry Popsicle Day, National Toasted Marshmallow Day, National Trail Mix Day or National Cheese Pizza Day. Choose one that complements your brand.

3. Beat the heat. Offer flash sales on cold beverages when temperatures creep toward the triple digits. That encourages guests to cool off in your restaurant – and stay a while. Keep an eye on the thermometer, and promote your discounted iced tea, lemonade or frozen cocktails through social media or a brief email blast.
