The National Restaurant Association asks owners, operators and anyone in the industry who is impacted by immigration policy to contact their members of the U.S. Senate, who are expected to vote on comprehensive immigration reform this week.As the Senate debate winds down, it’s important that we continue the momentum triggered in part by the thousands of letters and phone calls to Congress that restaurateurs have delivered from across the country.
The bill the Senate is expected to vote on contains three key priorities that the NRA considers critical to help restaurants meet their labor and other business needs. Those priorities include
a clear pathway to legalization for the more than 11 million undocumented workers who currently contribute to the U.S. economy.
an accurate and reliable federal employment verification system to replace the patchwork of state and local systems currently being used.
Improved border security that does not interfere with the legal travel and tourism that is essential to industry growth.
