Celeb chef/host Zimmern to rock Restaurants Rock party

TV personality and celebrity chef Andrew Zimmern will host Restaurants Rock, the official after-party of this year’s National Restaurant Association’s Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show and the International Wine, Spirits & Beer Event in Chicago.

Zimmern, award-winning host, creator and co-executive producer of the Travel Channel’s “Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern” and “Andrew Zimmern’s Bizarre World,” will kick off the official opening of this year’s NRA Show at the May 18 party at The Castle nightclub in Chicago.

NRA Show 2014 will be held May 17-20 and IWSB will be held May 18-19 at McCormick Place in Chicago. Restaurants Rock guests must be registered to attend both the NRA Show and IWSB. Tickets to the after-party may be purchased for $50.

In addition to his duties as event host, the celebrity chef also will preside over the finals of the sixth Annual Star of the Bar competition, which pits the country’s best mixologists, their recipes and skills against each other for bragging rights and a $5,000 cash prize.

“We’re excited to have Andrew Zimmern as the official host of Restaurants Rock and emcee of the Star of the Bar competition and in the all-star line-up of chef talent on the World Culinary Showcase stage,” said Sam Facchini, NRA Show 2014’s convention chair and co-founder/co-owner of Metro Pizza in Las Vegas. “Mr. Zimmern exposes people to new ideas in foodservice and hospitality every day, just as we strive to do at the NRA Show and IWSB each year.”

The celebrity host also will hold a book signing of his tomes “Andrew Zimmern’s Bizarre World of Food” and “Andrew Zimmern’s Field Guide to Exceptionally Weird, Wild & Wonderful Food,” during a May 18 cooking demonstration at the NRA Show’s World Culinary Showcase.
