Job fair for military vets on tap in Georgia

The National Restaurant Association, in its continuing efforts to support members of the U.S. military, is inviting operators in the state of Georgia to participate in the 2012 Hiring Our Heroes veterans job fair Aug. 21.

The free event, sponsored by U.S. Congressman John Barrow, D-Ga., and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, will be held at Georgia Southern University's Nessmith-Lane Conference Center in Statesboro, Ga. Other sponsors include the Department of Labor's Veterans' Employment and Training Service, the Georgia Committee of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, the Georgia Workforce Commission, NBC News and the office of Statesboro Mayor Joe Brannen.

To participate, employers and job seekers must register at www.HOH.Greatjob.net.

Separately, the NRA also noted that Chopped, the Food Network's popular TV cooking show, is seeking contestants for an upcoming, special military-themed episode. The show will audition skilled, dynamic, and outgoing former military chefs across the country to compete for a $10,000 prize.
