NRA joins forces with MFHA to promote diversity

To raise cultural awareness and encourage promotion of diversity in the restaurant industry, the National Restaurant Association and Multicultural Foodservice & Hospitality Alliance have joined together to advance opportunities for people of all races, ethnicities and orientations.

For 20 years, the two organizations have worked together to build career opportunities for all people in the restaurant business, said NRA president and CEO Dawn Sweeney, who added that promoting diversity is the key ingredient to the industry’s success.

“Through this partnership, we will work together to showcase the incredible opportunities and pathways to success that restaurants provide to Americans of all backgrounds,” she said.

Gerry Fernandez, founder and president of the MFHA, praised the NRA for its long-time support of the Alliance. He also noted that the NRA was instrumental in helping to launch the nonprofit in 1996, so coming “home” to partner with it seemed like a natural fit.

“We look forward to furthering our mission across the entire restaurant and hospitality community,” he said.

In addition to advocating for career opportunities, MFHA develops Cultural Intelligence training modules to help the industry improve business results in culturally diverse markets. As part of the partnership, NRA members will have access to MFHA’s Cultural Intelligence solutions and educational resources.
