NRA launches new ServSafe Manager Online Course

The National Restaurant Association (NRA) has launched its ServSafe Manager Online Course, 6th Edition - the web-based version of its industry-leading ServSafe Manager Book, 6th Edition training program. The newly recalibrated ServSafe 6th Edition content includes optimized, focused content created by the industry, for the industry. The ServSafe Manager Book, 6th Edition for classroom training was introduced in April.

"Online training is an increasingly popular solution to preparing managers to keep food safe in today's busy restaurant and foodservice establishments," said Paul Hineman, executive vice president of the National Restaurant Association.

"Affordable and flexible, our new ServSafe Manager Online Course adds convenience to staff professional development while maintaining the high-quality results customers see with all our ServSafe training products. A trained workforce that is better prepared to keep your business and customers protected is an investment in your future success," he added.

The new ServSafe Manager Online Course, 6th Edition is bilingual in English or Spanish and features interactive activities that allow the learner to practice real-life situations, progress bar to keep pace, text and audio so the learner can both read and hear course content, a glossary of food safety terms, printable study guides and reference materials, and a post test. The online course is available for Windows and Mac desktop in a variety of browsers via Adobe Flash Player, as well as easy implementation on corporate learning management systems (LMS). A demo of the course is available online.

ServSafe 6th Edition contains the latest FDA Food Code updates (2011 supplement to the 2009 FDA Food Code) and is based on a new job task analysis developed exclusively by restaurant operators across segments, academic bodies and regulatory experts for real-life situations. The new edition focuses more intently on the preventative measures to keep food safe, leading to stronger food safety practices and a better trained workforce.

The industry leader for nearly 40 years with more than 5 million certifications issued, ServSafe continues to evolve with innovative changes that make food safety easier to learn and retain. Because the ServSafe program is developed by the NRA, proceeds go toward industry improvement through research and education.

The ServSafe program is certified through the American National Standards Institute-Conference for Food Protection (ANSI-CFP), the leading certifier of food safety training.
