Healthful kids’ meals the talk of the town

The National Restaurant Association, along with Joy Dubost, its senior director of nutrition, hosted a live Twitter party Feb. 10 to promote awareness of its Kids LiveWell program and the restaurant industry’s efforts to provide nutritious choices for children when dining out.

The chat, which also was held in recognition of American Heart Month, trended on Twitter and generated more than 41 million impressions.


Kids LiveWell joined forces with program sponsor Kellogg Company to host the Twitter party and further promote the importance of child nutrition.


Celebrity chef and Food Network star Robert Irvine also joined in the fun.


Many Kids LiveWell participants and sponsors "talked" about the healthful options they provide, including Applebee’s, the Beef Checkoff Program, California Milk Advisory Board, bd’s Mongolian Grill, Corner Bakery, Fratello's, Ground Round, Humperdinks, McCormick For Chefs, Rusty Bucket, Schlotsky’s, Shari’s and Sysco.


Afterwards, the fun continued with The Hashtag Game, #HowToGetKidsToEatVeggies, which also trended nationally. Many helpful tips were shared, including:
