The restaurateur’s guide to immigration rules

I-9 forms. E-Verify. Visa rules. The web of immigration laws and regulations can be overwhelming, and the smallest slip-up can lead to steep fines and penalties. But don’t worry! We’ve gathered some of the top immigration law experts in the country to help you find answers. And it’s free for National Restaurant Association members.

The National Restaurant Association will hold a three-part webinar series next month on immigration laws and how they affect the restaurant industry. The series will cover:

  • E-Verify and your restaurant (July 15, 3 p.m. EST): Get top-level information and tips on E-Verify from a senior Department of Homeland Security official. You’ll learn how the system works, how to enroll, and employer responsibilities when using the system. Cornelius Wyatt, management and program analyst for DHS, will lead the webinar and walk participants through a live demonstration of E-Verify. Register now.
  • H-2Bs and other employment visas for hospitality workers (July 22, 3 p.m. EST): Don’t miss the chance to learn from a top immigration lawyer who has represented more than 100 of the world’s most prominent restaurants and hotels. Becki L. Young, co-founder of Hammond Young Immigration Law LLC, will provide a comprehensive look at the H-2B visa program, how it works, quotas and nationality restrictions. She’ll also walk you through alternatives to the program. Register now.
  • Employer immigration compliance strategies and tips (July 29, 3 p.m. EST): Learn to avoid the most common pitfalls—and the fines that go with them—of I-9 forms, E-Verify, citizenship discrimination, visas, and other critical areas. Denise Hammond, co-founder of Hammond Young Immigration Law LLC, will draw on more than 30 years of experience to help you stay on the right side of the law. Register now.
