Who are Foodable’s Five Star winners?

Foodable Labs announced its Five Star Award winners Tuesday at the National Restaurant Association Restaurant Innovation Summit in San Diego. The RIS media sponsor ranked operators, brands and industry leaders based on its social media intelligence with the Restaurant Social Media Index.

The winners are:

Brand Star: Chick-fil-A

The award acknowledges excellent food, service and branding. As rolls new products, it engages with guests on social media and features lifestyle content on its Inside Chick-fil-A microsite.Digital Star: Sonic Drive-In

Digital Star: Sonic Drive-In

The award salutes high-trending engagement on mobile and location-based technology. The My Sonic app allows customers to manage Sonic offers and opt in to receive news and exclusive deals. Sonic introduced mobile games for children earlier this year.

Service Star: Mastro’s Steakhouse, Beverly Hills, Calif.

Mastro’s consistent, top-notch service garners recurring descriptions of “prompt,” “five-star,” and “excellent” in reviews, Foodable notes.

Culinary Star: Sinatra, Las Vegas

This award measures excellence in food sentiment – “beyond consumer expectations” – and is based on the analysis of 160K culinary terms, menu items and brand terms from Foodable Labs’ insights.

Leadership Star: Mark Crumpacker, chief marketing and development officer, Chipotle Mexican Grill

Determined by social and digital performance as well as a selection committee, the award measures high digital brand performance by an executive, operator or chef. Foodable says: “Crumpacker and his team have helped to build a brand that sticks to its guns no matter what … Mobile payments, he has said, will be the brand’s biggest opportunity to gather information about its customers. Chipotle’s marketing is advanced, as we’ve seen in their usage over the years in digital video and gamification. At the end of the day, Crumpacker understands the importance of not trying to be all things to all people.”
