High School Students

The National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation's ProStart® program teaches culinary techniques and management skills to more than 90,000 high school students.

ProStart's industry-driven curriculum provides real-life experience as well as classroom activities to build practical skills and a foundation that will last a lifetime. More than 1,700 high schools in 47 states, Guam and U.S. military bases participate in ProStart. The program is supported by restaurant and hospitality professionals and companies, educators, and state restaurant associations.

How ProStart Works

ProStart opens doors for fulfilling careers by bringing together the restaurant industry and the classroom. The two-year curriculum focuses on all facets of the industry and sets a high standard of excellence for students and the industry. ProStart students can compete in the National ProStart Invitational or earn the ProStart Certificate of Achievement.
