Marshall L. “Ken” Conrad is chairman of Libby Hill Seafood Restaurants, a nine-location company based in Greensboro, N.C. His parents began the company in 1953 with a single restaurant.

Conrad began his long restaurant-industry career as a cook in one of his parents’ restaurants and later took over operations of that location. He became company president in 1983.

A former chairman of the North Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association, Conrad served on its board for more than 20 years. He was named Restaurateur of the Year in 2007 and received the Griff and June Glover award for outstanding service to the industry. He has been a member of the National Restaurant Association Board of Directors since 2004.

The long-time industry veteran is active in the Greensboro, N.C., business community through the Chamber of Commerce, the Economic Development Alliance and the Guilford Merchants Association. He lobbies on behalf of small businesses on local, state and federal issues and has testified before Congress on food safety issues. He is a former chairman of the National Fisheries Institute.

Conrad has a bachelor of art’s degree in economics from Guilford College and served in the Army National Guard, where he was a cook.
