After learning of the Burma cyclone disaster, Origin India Group’s Raja Majid felt compelled to do something to help victims of the tragedy. Majid contacted the Burma Temple in Las Vegas and began raising funds for the relief effort. The company donated food and contributed $1 per guest check during May, raising $2,500. The temple sent $50,000 to a registered charity in Burma to feed, clothe, house and provide medical assistance to victims. Majid also supports the National Restaurant Association ProStart program, which helps high school students pursue restaurant and foodservice careers. Majid and his team recently sponsored the honor cords for 29 graduating seniors who earned their National ProStart Certificate of Achievement and hosted the ProStart Teacher Appreciation Luncheon.
