Raising Cane’s two cleverly named fundraising concepts — Raising Cans with Raising Cane’s and Raising Coats with Raising Cane’s — focus on one theme: helping those less fortunate. Shortly after opening in Lincoln, Raising Cane’s staff met with the local food bank and immediately knew they could do something positive to help. After initially just donating unused bread to the food bank, the restaurant developed the Raising Cans with Raising Cane’s concept. Each person who donated a canned good received $1 off a combo meal. For the first year of the project, Raising Cane’s donated 596 pounds of food to the Lincoln Food Bank. The Raising Coats with Raising Cane’s project brought in 320 coats for the needy. For that endeavor, Raising Cane’s sponsored a night at a Lincoln Stars hockey game. Every attendee would receive a free meal if a certain number of coats were donated; the attendees met the goal and received more than $1,500 worth of free meals.
