When the nearby Meramec River flooded this year, Dickey’s Barbecue employees and management went into crisis relief mode after the owner’s eight-year-old son inspired them to get involved. They fed police officers, sand baggers, transportation workers and the media. For days, Dickey’s served free food, making sandwiches, delivering them and helping serve everyone. Overall, Dickey’s estimates it fed more than 1,000 relief workers a day for five days.
