When PJ Wichita CEO Frank Carney read about a local boy’s battle with epidermolysis bullosa, a skin disease requiring a bone marrow transplant, he knew he had to help out. As a child, Carney suffered from a similar disease. For two days, Carney’s 11 Papa John’s locations donated 20 percent of their sales and placed collection boxes in all of their stores to raise funds for the boy’s operation. The overwhelming response from the community helped Papa John’s raise $31,000 in two days.
