Cornerstone Humanitarian Nominee: Stephen Palmer Steve Palmer uses his skills and knowledge as a restaurateur to make his foundation’s signature fundraising event a success. As a founding member of the H Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to funding cancer research, Palmer has helped raised $1.9 million over the past eight years for Northwestern University’s Lurie Cancer Center. Active in politics, Palmer has served on the village of La Grange’s economic development committee for the past 10 years and is president of the West Suburban Chamber of Commerce and Industry, helping grow membership at the chamber by 50 percent. As a veteran, Palmer is active in the American Legion Post 1941 in La Grange, helping to organize Memorial and Veteran’s Day activities, and was a driving force in establishing two major fundraisers to support CEP Youth Leadership. U.S. Rep. Dan Lipinski (D-Ill.) describes Palmer as the “go-to” source when it comes to all community activities and fundraising ventures for La Grange.
