When Laura Hudgens’ coworkers at Harry Caray’s learned she had breast cancer, they quickly mobilized to support Laura, then age 27, and her “Team Cosmonaut” for the two-day, 39-mile Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Chicago. Eight Harry Caray’s employees joined Laura’s 41-member walking team, with many exceeding their $1,800 pledge goals. Harry Caray’s also hosted a fundraising event for 120 guests to contribute another $5,000 to the cause. With the support of Harry Caray’s employees and corporate office, Team Cosmonaut raised $111,000, earning the distinction of being the second most successful fundraising team in Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Chicago.
