After watching a close friend experience the joys and struggles of raising a child with special needs, Marlow’s Tavern co-owner John Metz Jr. wanted to make a difference in the life of this child, and others like him. Marlow’s Tavern has been a proud supporter of the Special Olympics for more than 10 years. During fundraising events, staff members donate money raised from tips toward the Special Olympians. Over the past 10 years, Marlow’s has raised more than $300,000 to support the nearly 23,000 Special Olympics athletes in Georgia who train and compete in 23 sports. Special Olympics offers children and adults with intellectual disabilities year-round training and competition in 30 Olympic-type summer and winter sports.
