For the past 13 years, AppleCreek Management has sponsored an annual golf tournament to benefit muscular dystrophy. The fundraiser grew out of AppleCreek leaders’ support for a dear friend with the debilitating disease. Since 1995 the company, which franchises 40 Applebee’s and two Up the Creek locations, has donated more than 2,500 volunteer hours and raised more than $760,000 for the cause. Their contributions have helped 400 special-needs children attend summer camp; helped purchase more than 250 wheelchairs and braces; and contributed to countless hours of support group sessions for families of loved ones diagnosed with the disease. In addition to the golf tournament, AppleCreek donates approximately $250,000 a year in gift cards and in-kind contributions and supports several other community projects including a Giving Tree, Flapjack Fundraisers and a summer reading program.
