Hard Rock International thinks pink with its philanthropic outreach. Eight years ago, the company launched a month-long initiative to raise awareness and money for breast cancer research. During Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, the company’s 127 restaurants serve specialty Pink Drinks and limited edition Rocktober Pins to benefit its breast cancer awareness campaign. This past year, Hard Rock added live music events to its worldwide efforts, partnering with singer/songwriter and breast cancer survivor Melissa Etheridge for a live concert at Hard Rock Café New York. Hard Rock customers fully support the breast cancer awareness campaign; the company sold more than 30,000 Pink Drinks in five weeks, and the 2007 Rocktober Pin sold out in less than a month. Last year, Hard Rock Café donated about $448,000 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and other local breast cancer advocacy groups, and more than $3 million overall for numerous causes.
