The Double Chocolate Hill is irresistible for more than its warm peanut butter center and creamy chocolate ganache topping — the dessert also serves as Iron Hill’s signature fundraising tool. As part of National Cancer Awareness Month in September, Iron Hill raises funds for childhood cancer research through sales of its Double Chocolate Hill dessert. A portion of the proceeds goes to The CureSearch National Childhood Cancer Foundation and Children’s Oncology Group. The network of more than 5,000 physicians, nurses and scientists conduct clinical trials and perform cutting- edge research at more than 200 member institutions to cure childhood cancer. The program was a natural fit for Iron Hill; cofounder Mark Edelson and his wife, who works in pediatric oncology, were active supporters of the CureSearch NCCF for years. Since the Double Chocolate Hill fundraising program launched four years ago, Iron Hill has raised more than $70,000 for the foundation.
