What could be more fun than organizing an edible art food competition? That’s what the folks at The Woodward House do each year as part of the community’s Eat Your Art Out fundraiser for the Main Street Waterbury Organization. For the past four years, Woodward House has invited area chefs and restaurants to create edible art centerpieces and prepare bite-size portions for the nearly 1,000 guests that attend each year. The restaurant also recruits high school culinary students to help the chef and enlists vendors to donate money, food, linens and free advertising. Woodward House is heavily involved with the National Restaurant Association’s ProStart Program, mentoring culinary students at New Britain High School twice a week for most of the school year; this year marked the students’ second time competing in the National ProStart Invitational.
