“U-ACT Champion Program” helps promote one of Red Robin’s core values — the importance of “Unbridled Acts” of kindness — in schools across the country. The restaurant company created the U-ACT program to recognize team members who went above and beyond to help customers and fellow employees. When they saw how successful the program was, they created a national characterbuilding initiative to inspire middle and junior high students to create a strong and caring community inside and outside of their schools. Schools participating in the U-ACT Champion Program are encouraged to implement “kindness” activities such as community fundraisers and recognize the simple, everyday things students do to help others succeed all year. The winning school for the first national program during the 2007-2008 academic year received a $20,000 grant for bringing Red Robin’s ‘unbridled’ philosophy to life and implementing several kindness programs. Since the program launched in 2005, Red Robin has granted close to $75,000 to U-ACT Champion and runners-up schools.
