Attract customers for a good cause

Are you participating in the Great American Dine Out? If so, hunger-relief organization Share Our Strength, which organizes the annual dine-out event, has a new toolkit to help restaurants attract customers for a good cause.

The week-long event, sponsored by the National Restaurant Association, is set for Sept. 19 through 25.

The toolkit includes downloadable point-of-sale materials, such as posters, donation cards, check-stuffers, coupons and guidelines. Many of the materials can be customized. The toolkit includes tips to promote your restaurant’s participation through social media or pitch the event to traditional media outlets. Download templates for news releases, talking points, scripts, and more.

Last year, more than 3,500 restaurants, their employees and guests participated in the Great American Dine Out. Participating restaurants can tailor the event to their business and customer needs: They can take part for the full week or one day, donate a percentage of sales or proceeds from specific menu items. Restaurant suppliers can sponsor the event or contribute goods and services to restaurant partners.
