During the week of Veteran's Day, the National Restaurant Association and the Texas Restaurant Association will join together to launch Freedom is Sweet!, a fundraising initiative to support military veterans and their families through restaurant fundraisers and consumer-driven campaigns. All funds raised will support military charities, including Tee it up for the Troops, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the needs of those who serve our country.
Restaurants can support this worthwhile campaign in numerous ways including:
- Customer-funded contributions such as bounce-back coupons, paper hangs or donation cards
- Donating a percentage of sales from Veteran's Day-related sales
- Designating a specific menu item whose proceeds support Freedom is Sweet!
- Creating a specialty drink or dessert
- Make a donation off of gift card sales
- Provide veterans with a free meal or dessert
