Japan Earthquake Relief: How you can help

Restaurants are the cornerstones of their communities, providing assistance in their local communities on a daily basis. They are also often the first responders when tragedies of global proportions strike nationally and abroad. The Association recognizes the support its members provide and offers the following suggested organizations to assist in the Japan relief efforts. The Red Cross Red Crescent has also established a solidarity fund to provide people with an opportunity to show their support for individuals and communities affected by the devastating events in Japan. Donations will support the Japanese Red Cross Society disaster relief efforts to help those affected by the earthquake and tsunami. Funds will be utilized for the on-going provision of immediate relief and for eventual recovery support to the affected population. To donate, go to IFRC website.

The Department of State and the USAID Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance are directing the public to support InterAction. InterAction is the largest alliance of U.S.-based international nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) focused on the world’s poor and most vulnerable people. InterAction member organizations are deploying response teams and have strong partnerships with civil society groups in Japan who are responding. For a list of specific organizations go to the InterAction Members Support Japan Tsunami Response web page.
