Menu labeling 101: An FDA overview

The countdown is on. On May 5, 2017, the nation’s first federal menu-labeling rules take effect. The regulations will require many restaurant chains and similar retail food establishments to post calorie counts on menus and menu boards and provide customers with additional written nutrition information on request. FDA officials review the regulations and offer resources to help restaurateurs understand the complex requirements.
