6 tips to get kids eating healthy

Looking for ways to get kids to eat more healthfully at restaurants? Here are six tips from celebrity chef Robert Irvine, Applebee’s Jessica James, Carrabbas’ Maria Caranfa, Corner Bakery’s Ric Scicchitano and Schlotzsky’s Maira Morales on how to make nutritious choices the most appealing items on your menu. The five industry pros shared their ideas during a Kids LiveWell Twitter party celebrating the program’s 4th birthday. Their answers were part of a Twitter chef Q&A:

  1. An apple a day …
  2. The dipping duo
  3. Pasta that’s good for you and tastes good, too
  4. Squash starchy sides
  5. Less sodium, more flavor
  6. Sweets in moderation

Visit the National Restaurant Association’s Kids LiveWell program for more information, tips and tools on child nutrition and healthful eating when dining out.
