Florida restaurants to help Orlando victims

Florida’s restaurant and lodging community is working to raise funds for the victims of the recent shooting in Orlando.

Dine Out for Orlando United, a statewide event led by the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association, will be held June 30. Participating restaurants can donate a portion of their sales or profits, or collect donations received from guests and staff members.

Donations will go directly to the OneOrlando Fund, which was set up to help the shooting victims and their families. Forty-nine people were killed and 53 others were wounded June 12 at Pulse, the nightclub where the attack happened.

“Our hearts and prayers are with the victims and their families,” said FRLA President Carol Dover. “As an industry, we want to continue to rally around them by offering our support, time and resources. We encourage all Floridians and visitors to participate in this Dine Out to help the entire Orlando community.”

Dover added that Pulse is an FRLA member and that the association is proud to lend its support to the fundraiser.

Restaurants interested in participating should contact the FRLA’s Dan Murphy at dmurphy@frla.org.
