Mallet talks NRA’s goals, importance of partnership at Pennsylvania state event

Educating public officials and lawmakers about the restaurant industry's role in helping to drive the economy back into positive territory is one of the National Restaurant Association's main goals, chairwoman Roz Mallet told members of the Pennsylvania Restaurant Association during a visit there this week.

Mallet, who attended the PRA's annual Golf Classic June 28, addressed the group of Pennsylvania restaurateurs saying, "Our goal is for lawmakers and regulators to not only understand our relevance and our important stake in the economy, but to count on restaurant leaders as a policy resource, embrace our expertise and consult with us before they make decisions that affect our industry."

She further stated that when the state associations join with the NRA to work together on issues it "can ensure our ... voice is heard wherever it's needed. We must all be vigilant."

Focusing on who wins the majority in the U.S. Senate and supporting proven friends in Congress is essential to the industry's continued success, Mallet told the group.

"As major players in our national economic recovery, we can't afford to be silent in such an important year," she said. ... "With a continued commitment to advocacy, we really can make a difference for our industry and the people we serve.

"Together we will have an impact locally, statewide and nationally," she asserted.
