Mark Travel and Tourism Week in your community

travel week.jpg

National Travel & Tourism Week starts Saturday, and restaurant operators are coming together to show why travel matters.

The National Restaurant Association encourages its members to get involved in several ways:

1. Host or participate in Travel Rally Day May 10. And don't forget to let NRA partner U.S. Travel Association know what you're doing.

2. Use the Power of Travel Coalition's resources to help you build the case locally for why travel matters.

3. Build the Power of Travel Coalition, the ever-growing grassroots army of travel employees who defend the travel and tourism industry. The U.S. Travel recently updated its toolkit with new resources to help you be a strong local advocate. Tools include marketing materials, templates to help you communicate and social media tips.

4. Meet with your elected officials to help convey restaurant and other tourism-related businesses' impact on local jobs and economies. The toolkit provides information on how to hold in-district meetings with your legislators during National Travel & Tourism Week. Let the coalition know if you meet with your lawmakers.

National Travel and Tourism Week was established in 1984 to champion the power of travel through events in cities, states and travel businesses nationwide. A key component of NTTW is Travel Rally Day, which brings together travel workers from all sectors to highlight travel's value as an economic force and job creator. NTTW not only unites the tourism community, but also reminds lawmakers and media how powerful the travel industry is in destinations across the country.
