Move over, Top Chef Jr. These are our culinary whiz kids

Simon Sanchez High School is the only school to win the National ProStart Invitiational two years in a row. Can the culinary team from Guam defend its title for a third straight year?

James Rumsey Technical High School is expected to put up strong competition. The trip to Anaheim this weekend will be its fourth straight foray to National ProStart Invitational. Last year's second-, third- and fourth-place teams also are among the returning culinary teams.

The top five teams usually finish within a point or two -- and sometimes -- fractions of a point. Judges evaluate the culinary teams from the moment they check in their ingredients, on the cooking floor and in the tasting room. The students must demonstrate excellence in knife skills, team work, communication, creativity and culinary technique as they prepare a three-course meal on two butane burners in one hour.

The winning teams will be announced Monday, April 20. The top five teams in the management and culinary competitions will earn scholarships from the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation, sponsors and culinary institutions. Follow the action on our live feed and blog, starting 9:30 a.m. ET, Sunday, April 19.

Here are this year's culinary teams to watch:
