NRA salutes 2012 kitchen equipment innovators

The National Restaurant Association has announced the recipients of the 2012 Kitchen Innovations award, which recognizes cutting-edge kitchen equipment geared to the foodservice industry.

Award recipients were selected based on their ability to help foodservice operations run faster and more efficiently through increased productivity, quality, safety, cost-efficiency and environmental sustainability.

This year's slate of awardees is:

Alto-Shaam's Combitherm® Automatic Grease Collection System, Bettcher Industries' Optimax Compact Automatic Batter-Breading Machine, CookTek Induction Systems' SinAquaTM Waterless Food Holding System, Ecolab's ActiveView HDI, Ecolab's STEALTH® Fly Station, Franke Foodservice Systems' Ice Machine Sanitizing Device, Frontline International's Fresh Cooking Oil Box System, Frymaster's Large Vat Fryers, Garland Commercial Ranges' Induction Griddle, Kaivac's OmniFlexTM Dispense-and-Vac system, Kitchens to Go by Carlin Manufacturing's Bolt On Kitchens, and Lang Manufacturing's GHP Series featuring On Demand Burners. Also on the list are Merrychef USA's Planar Plume Technology, Power Soak Systems' Silent Alert, Rational USA's SelfCookingCenter, Sealed Air's Vision Enabled Training, Springboard Biodiesel's BioProTM EX cooking-oil converter, Vitamix's Automatic Mix'n Machine, Vulcan's VTEC Infared Charbroiler, Wells Manufacturing's HDW-2 Water Saving Heated Disher Well, and ZipZester's Spin Zester.

Selected by a panel of foodservice facilities consultants, multiunit executives and design experts, the products will be on display at the interactive Kitchen Innovations Pavilion at this year's National Restaurant Association Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show at McCormick Place in Chicago, May 5-8.

"These truly groundbreaking products will have a substantial impact on the efficiency and success of restaurant kitchens, as well as the profitability of the restaurant itself," said Jack Crawford convention chair for NRA Show 2012 and president and CEO of Ground Round Independent Owners Cooperative LLC. "As the largest restaurant and hospitality trade show in the United States, the NRA Show offers the perfect forum to explore trends and find new products to enhance restaurant operations."
