National ProStart Invitational kicks off

Nearly 400 students have converged on Charleston, S.C., to compete in our National ProStart Invitational, April 28 to 30.

This year’s event, presented by our educational foundation, will be held at the Charleston Area Convention Center. Students from around the country will put their culinary and restaurant management skills to the test as they compete for scholarships, trophies and recognition from industry leaders, NRAEF Trustees, state restaurant association executives, top post-secondary schools, plus family and friends.

NPSI is the finale in a series of state contests hosted by state restaurant associations. Each competition ‑ in both the culinary and management disciplines ‑ requires students to impress the judges with skills they’ve developed in their ProStart classes.

Dawn Sweeney, our president and CEO, offered her congratulations to all of the ProStart competitors, saying, “We wish all of the students the best of luck as they compete.”

The top five teams in the culinary and management competitions will receive educational scholarships to help further their educations and future careers in the industry.

This year, more than $1 million in scholarships has been awarded to ProStart students.
