One mother of a reinvention …

As Americans get smarter about both food and technology, restaurateurs need to be sure they’re tracking the equipment and marketing tactics they need to win and keep market share.

The National Restaurant Association will host its third annual Restaurant Innovation Summit Oct. 27-28, in San Diego to help restaurateurs capitalize on emerging technology to make their businesses more profitable.

The summit will serve as a one-stop shop, offering restaurant operators the opportunity to learn firsthand about industry innovations and advancements. It will highlight the latest in tableside technology, how to use beacons to capture guests’ preferences, and implementing tools to improve employee productivity. It also will focus on some new food and beverage trends gaining popularity.

“The restaurant industry is changing and evolving quickly and restaurant operators must keep up with those changes to stay relevant and successful,” said Phil Kafarakis, the NRA’s chief innovation and member advancement officer. “To do that, they must learn about the latest technologies available so they can advance their operations to the next level. This summit is poised to provide them with the tools to achieve that success.”

This year’s slate of speakers includes:

  • Amy Webb, founder and CEO of digital strategy consulting firm Webbmedia Group, who will address near-future restaurant technology trends
  • Edie Weiner, president and CEO of the Future Hunters, who will analyze how future agriculture and food trends will impact business
  • Holger Luedorf, senior vice president of business development for on-demand delivery service Postmates
  • Stan Chia, senior vice president of operations for online ordering service Grubhub
  • Albert Lee, partner and chief technology officer at travel concessions specialist OTG Management, who will talk about the latest innovations in airport foodservice
  • Helen Baptist, vice president of customer relationship management for online marketing company Fishbowl Inc., who will speak about loyalty programs and how captured customer data can be game-changing for restaurant marketers.
