Restaurant marketing executives to meet in October

Restaurant marketing professionals will encounter a new format at the fall meeting of the National Restaurant Association’s Marketing Executives Group.

The new format, “MEG Talks,” is based on TED conferences, which feature brief, engaging sessions, rather than traditional panel discussions and long presentations.  The fall meeting is set for Oct. 23 and 24 in Denver.

The meeting’s theme, “Fast Forward,” reflects the new power-presentation format, as well as topics that will help attendees master shifting market dynamics and rapidly changing market influences.

“You’ve heard of TED Talks, now join us for MEG Talks!” says MEG co-chairman Bill Ruby, vice president, company operations for Denny’s.

Presentations will cover: Using Tumblr and other digital platforms to engage customers; increasing sales through beverage innovations; out-thinking the competition; overcoming challenges; and other ideas to improve brand recognition, engage guests and drive traffic. The conference also will feature networking opportunities.

MEG shortened its meeting to two half days to accommodate attendees’ busy schedules, but it aims to provide two full days of content through the new format.

The meeting is scheduled with a new NRA conference on technology innovations. The Restaurant Innovation Summit will bring together finance, marketing, operations, IT and treasury professionals to address rapid changes in how consumers want to pay for products and services.
